Hi Everyone -
I am a little bit behind on starting my blog, but wanted to write a couple of things before week 2 gets away from me. I have never blogged before, so please excuse my cyber ignorance :) I do like to write, so I am hoping this will help me keep on track. So far, this week has started out a bit rough and my eating has not been as on track as I would like it to be. My youngest had her 5th birthday party over the weekend and of coarse there was bday cake! Erghhhhh! My family also really makes the most out of occasions, so the day also meant visiting into the late late night and more foods that aren't ideal for me right now. "Occasions" tend to be my hardest struggles and with my family being so large, there is an "occasion" almost every month between normal holidays and birthdays. I have not yet found my magic approach to these things. Any suggestions?
My goals overall for this next 3 months are to exercise a minimum of 3-4 times per week and keep my eating clean and lo-carb. No carb doesn't work for me, but I am finding that lo-carb does... overall I just feel better when I am not weighted down with a bunch of starches. My weight loss goal is to lose 25 pounds, which is not going to be easy, but I am determined!
Occasions are hard and can can sure bring up a lot of negative thinking and punishment after. Remember it's just a day and a day does not define your world or journey. Another tip is to bring healthy snacks in addition. I bring lettuce cups to put many of my dips in, or veggie trays. Bean dips etc. Things that can be filling and balance out some of the bad. Good job on week 1!!!
ReplyDeleteugh I posted a comment and it's not there.... What I said was that a celebration is just a day, enjoy it, the time w family and remember that the real goals come in the majority of days and you seem to be on track there. Bring some light calorie or healthy snacks too to balance out some of the bad. I always bring a black bean dip that has lettuce wraps but can also be eaten with chips. Trader joes has great low cal chips too. Stuff like that! Great job!!
ReplyDeletehere are my thoughts and ideas that have worked for me...like annie said bring your own snaks but not just for yourself for everyone to enjoy and never tell them they are low cal. if you need party snack ideas, ever, just ask i have a lot of low cal recipes. also remember what you are there for focus on that not to eat but to enjoy family and friends. Invite someone to walk with you after a meal or play a kick ball game something anything to keep your hands and mind away from the food table. hope any of this helps good luck
ReplyDeleteHello and welcome Corina!! One thing I do is eat something nice and healthy, BEFORE the event, that way I'm full and I won't eat too much bad food at the event. And also since my family is not supportive of my vegetarian lifestyle, I always bring my own food and snacks as well. Good luck with your events and working out! Stay positive and keep on track. Keep us posted when you go to an event, and how you dealt with it! Looking forward to reading your future blogs!
